The Buddha taught that saving the lives of all beings is the most beneficial action of all relative good actions. According to Mahayana Buddhism, all sentient beings were at one time our parents. This belief is based on and linked to the cycle of births and rebirths in this world. Therein lies the basis to treat all beings with compassion and sympathy. This is the basis of "Tsethar" which is the Buddhist act of saving and preserving animal lives. The Health care committee actively participates and organizes animal life saving programmes. Recently we have organized animal life saving programme by liberating cows from slaughter houses in the market and releasing more than 1200 kgs of live fish into compassionate lake at Bylakuppe.
Prayer request
Generally, prayers and practices become more effective if performed on auspicious days. The power of prayer might do wonder in many cases, but we cannot of course guarantee it works on all occasions. Special prayers/practices can be performed by the monks on the occasions when misfortune occurs, like illness, death or when people feel they are unsuccessful in life.
