Drinking Water and Sanitation Program
One of our main priorities is to provide clean drinking water to the entire Monastic community of Sera Jhe Monastery. Till date SJHCC has successfully constructed 5 elevated water tanks with capacities ranging from75000 to150000 litres of water. Due to regular load shedding we often use power generator to pump water to our main tanks. Most of the power generators are very old and often break down which leads to disruption in water supply. To minimize this problem the committee proposed to raise fund for two power generators. The cost estimate for the 5 KV power generators cost: INR 167500:00 x 2 = INR 335000:00
The drinking water and sanitation programme is being given priority because gastro enteritis and diarrhea accounts for a large proportion of the diseases in the Monastic community. Thus we have streamlined this in our health programs and given priority to facilitate safe drinking water.
Sera Jhe Health Care Committee supply free clean drinking water to the entire community of Sera Jhe Monastery. Water is the key source of infection. We have made policy to provide pure drinking water free of germs. The water supplies are stored as per system adapted by local users as per availability of water quantity.
We have also provided training on water management, cleaning system and chlorination of water from time to time so that water will be free of germs for human consumption.
We have also undertaken ground water investigation to check the availability of underground water source for drinking purposes.
