Inrtoduction
The Sera Jhe Health Care
Committee was first established in 1989 by then Khen Rinpoche Lobsang Tsering
with generous financial contribution of Rs.50, 000.00 received from His Holiness
the Dalai Lama. The committee was registered as a Charitable Trust on 17th
September 1990 with the office of the Commissioner of Income Tax, Karnataka. The
Abbot of the Sera Jey Monastery is the chairman of the trust with four Board
Members elected to look after the activities of the Trust. Acting upon the
wishes of His Holiness, the first Committee members initiated various health
service projects, such as, Hospital, Drinking Water and Environment project.
This Health Care Committee was especially set up the Monastic University with
defined role to solving a variety of health, environment and sanitation related
problems in the Monastic Community.
