Sera monastery have also taken steps towards the prevention of this pandemic. The monastery was locked down from 22nd March 2020. They guard the gate every day under the scorching summer sun.
We at Sera Jhe Health Care Committee has made small contributions towards it by supplying face mask, drinking water, gloves and hand sanitizers to the staff manning the gate. The monks are provided necessary medication and the lay people who are regular patients of our clinic are also provided required medicines.
The monks who arrive from other destinations are quarantined at Tashi Choeling Centre by the monastery administration for a fortnight. For these monks the committee provides facility of regular check-up and basic medication.

ULTRASOUND MACHINE: ACUSON Juniper Ultrasound System by Siemen
Ultrasound is used to create images of soft tissue structures, such as the gallbladder, liver, kidney, pancreas, bladder, and other organ and parts of the body. Ultrasound can also measure the flow of blood in the arteries to detect blood flow blockage. Medical conditions like liver fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer can be detected by it. This specific machine is equipped to measure liver stiffness which is required to monitor patients suffering from Hepatitis B and Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver diseases, conditions which are common among our monks. Medical kidney diseases are detected. Ultrasound testing is safe and easy to perform. We express our heartfelt gratitude to all the sponsors who are involved in this project.
Members from Sera Jey Singapore Dharma Centre and Sera Jey Omniscience Dharma academy visited Sera Jhe Health Care Committee. All the members of our committee appreciate their visit. They regularly contribute to our activities. Their contributions not only help the monks of the monastery but also lay Tibetans and local Indians of the area. Our committee provides free service to the monks of the monastery and 50% discount to all the other patients. The achievements of the committee solely depend on donations from them and other individuals who support us.

Medicine Buddha Prayer.
It has been about 30 years since the establishment of Sera Jhe Health Care Committee with the seed money donation of RS 50000/- from His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama in 1989. From a small clinic which provides basic medication to the monks it has grown into a well established clinic with advanced equipment, experienced doctors and dedicated staff members.
It was mainly meant to look after the health care needs of Sera Jey monks. As it grows it now provides its facilities to the public irrespective of nationality, caste or creed.
Whatever we have achieved could not be full-filled without the support of our friends, well-wishers and kind sponsors. To express our gratitude and to the wellbeing all the supporters we have organized a medicine Buddha prayer on 25th Aug 2018 with one hundred fifty geshes.
We wish all our supporters good health and success in all their endeavors.

Sera Jhe Health Care Committee is conducting Master Health Checkup of the monks of Sera Jey Monastery from 20th April 2018. There are 3700 monks in the monastery and we hope to cover at least 3000 monks under this programme.
The monks have hectic monastic life due to their professional commitments in Buddhist studies. This results in excessive mental/physical stress due to improper eating habits, and late night study hours which often results in various health challenges. Also monks who have a personal history of any diseases related to cardiac, Kidney, diabetes etc. will also benefit from taking this package as a preventive measure.
This Health Checkup for monks is aimed to undertake timely action to avoid any medical problem/disorder. It is vital to identify and treat any diseases at an early stage. It addresses the specific health challenges of monks and consists of various examinations aimed to analyze the body functions that can primarily be affected by stress, work, life style related diseases.
NEW EQUIPMENT INSTALLED
We are striving to provide the best possible health care to the patients as per our capabilities. This basically depends on the clinical skills of the doctor, the infrastructure and supporting/nursing staff.
Because of the lack of few basic instruments in the clinic, our doctor is compelled to refer patients to out-of-station hospitals. This unnecessarily puts the patients under physical, mental and financial burden. Thus we intend to equip our clinic with all the basic equipments needed at Primary Health Care level so that our doctor can practice to his potential and perhaps encourage him to develop further his knowledge/skills.
We have recently added state of art hematology analyzer, otoscope and spirometer.
Our main aim is to "Refer Less and Manage More". See Photo
